Every Day is a Friday (3) By Dr. Michael Brooks
Today, we’ll finish this article series on Every Day is a Friday. I think having a positive attitude is key to making Every Day a Friday. What you think and dwell on or about negatively will impact you for that day. If you dread going to work and hate your boss or co-workers, that’s where your energy will go. Look for the good things in your job, be positive. Be thankful you have a job. If you can’t stand your job, then change things by getting a different job, or getting more education to move to a different position in the company you work for. There are positives in your life, you may just have to dig deeper to find them, but they are there!
Here are my tips for making Every Day a Friday:
Plan ahead for the enjoyable things you like to do. Plan a date night with your spouse or have a family night where you have pizza, and play games. Plan a vacation with your spouse or with the family.
Start enjoying time reading the books you used to like and get back into reading them. Go to Amazon and check out a few titles you might be interested in and order them. I do that all the time, and I really enjoy spending my time causal time reading them.
If you like being in the outdoors, plan some activities that you enjoy. If you like hiking, then I’d suggest going on two hikes per month. If you enjoy camping, then maybe one per month during the summer. Have something to look forward to each and every day of the week.
Once you start filling up your days up with things you like to do and look forward to, then you will understand the principle of Every Day is a Friday.
In closing, you are the only one who can make the “Every Day is a Friday” a part of your life, there are many obstacles in life that can prevent this way of thinking. If you plan your days around things you look forward to doing, you will see how your attitude will change in a positive way, trust me it does work. I’ve seen it in many of the clients that I work with; once they adopt this way of thinking, life seems better and less stressful.
